Lower Hutt Police are concerned for the safety of Aniwaniwa (Aniwa) Mihaere, aged 11 Years, who has not been seen at her Taita home address in Molesworth Street, since Friday night.

Aniwa is a female Maori, approximately five ft six inches tall, is of thin build and has long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a blue and white zip up hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the front and pink, three quarter track suit pants, and black and white slip on shoes.

Aniwa attends Avalon Intermediate. Police believe she was at school on Friday but has not been seen since 7.30pm at her home address.

Detective Sergeant Scott Cooper said Aniwa lived with her foster family who are very concerned for her.

"Aniwa doesn't have a cellphone that we're aware of nor any money, so we're hoping she's not too far away," Detective Sergeant Cooper said. "We're checking with her friends and family but so far no-one seem to have seen her."

He said Aniwa wasn't making any specific plans for the school holidays so her foster family and friends are puzzled by her sudden disappearance.

"Aniwa, you're not in trouble. Please let us know where you are as your carers and friends are worried about you."

Anyone with information about Aniwa's whereabouts, is asked to call Lower Hutt Police on: 04 560 2600 and ask for the CIB duty squad.
