Work place death at Lyttelton

Police, Maritime NZ and the Department of Labour will conduct a combined investigation to establish the events leading up to the death of a 55 year old man in Lyttelton last night.

The Lyttelton Port Authority employee was involved in a workplace accident at Cashin Quay at about 8pm and subsequently died at the scene.

Sgt Phil Newton, Lyttelton, says that the incident occurred while a coal ship Devprayag, was being moored at Cashin Quay.
