A man sought by Waikato Police for questioning in relation to a series of aggravated robberies in Hamilton over recent weeks was arrested yesterday for a robbery in Tauranga.

Detective Sergeant Neville Ross of the Hamilton CIB said Roger BALLER, 34, walked into the Tauranga Police station with his lawyer about 5pm to surrender.

"BALLER was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the robbery of a Tauranga service station early Monday night.

"Appearing in the Tauranga District Court today on that charge we anticipate laying further charges in relation to incidents in Hamilton at his next court appearance."

As part of their ongoing enquiries Mr Ross asked anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of a black Nissan Terrano, with the registration number CRC526, to contact their nearest Police station.

Mr Ross said BALLER'S arrest followed extensive Police enquiries to locate him resulting from significant input from various sectors of the public and involved staff from Hamilton, Counties Manukau, Tauranga and Morrinsville.

Police wish to thank all those who have assisted in this aspect of the enquiry.
