Three charged with New Plymouth murder

1 min read

Police investigating the death of 31-year-old Peri Niwa in New Plymouth around midnight on Saturday (15 November) have arrested and charged three men with murder.

The men aged 21, 37 and 38 were arrested this morning after warrants were executed at four addresses in New Plymouth. The Armed Offender Squad gave support to the operation but all of the arrests were made without incident.

The three men will appear at New Plymouth District Court this afternoon.

Meanwhile the investigation into Mr Niwa's death continues. It is known that a party was held at a house in Blagdon Road on Saturday night and a confrontation took place in the street nearby just before midnight. A large number of guests at that party have been identified, but Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward still wants to trace those who haven't yet spoken to police and he is urging them to come forward.

The area canvas also continues and anyone else who has information that might be relevant to the investigation is also asked to contact the police.
