Papanui Police are investigating an incident near Jellie Park about 6pm yesterday, Sunday 22 February when a shot was allegedly fired. Detective Annie Sullivan says that it appears there was an altercation between two groups of men.
"A shot was fired from what we believe was a shot gun but no one was injured," she states.
The incident occurred off Greers Road it is believed in the vicinity of the soccer field.
Detective Sullivan is seeking witnesses. "Both groups arrived and left in vehicles," she says. "They must have been obvious."
A 27 year old male has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of cannabis for supply and will appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow.
