Drug Seizure

Members of the Auckland Metro Crime Squads have executed a number of search warrants in the Auckland area over the last 2 days. These warrants have targeted members of organised crime groups involving asian people.

As a result of these search warrants a total of 1 kilogram of methamphetamine has been seized this was packaged in ounce bags, a common dealing amount. An ounce of methamphetamine currently sells in Auckland for approximately $14,000.

Also seized in the raids was $35,000 cash and 4 firearms.

As a result a 30 year old man and a 17 year old man face charges of Possession of Methamphetamine for Supply. They are due to appear in the Auckland District Court today.

Enquiries into the firearms and cash are continuing and further charges may be laid against other persons.

"This is a significant seizure of methamphetamine. The New Zealand Drug Harm Index identifies a seizure of this amount of Methamphetamine as presenting $403,000 worth of harm to New Zealand society."
