Search for Stewart- Police wait to act

Canterbury Police are waiting for further sightings and information in the search for William Alexander STEWART.

Senior Sergeant Stewart Munro, Lincoln, says that until they receive information from the public, police are advising all who live in rural Mid Canterbury/Banks Peninsula to take care.

"We responded last night about 10pm to a call from a farmer near Southbridge who thought that a suspicious person had been seen at the back of the farm however no one was located," he says. "We believe Stewart is using P so will be unpredictable."

Police advise that if you believe you have sighted Stewart to contact police on 111 and do not attempt to apprehend him yourself or make him feel cornered.

Police are also looking for sightings of a purple Falcon XR6, reg CEF 988 Stewart is believed to have stolen on Saturday night. (Photo on www.police.govt.nz).

He may also be in possession of a red, half cab flat deck 2004 Toyota Hilux, reg BYG 187, stolen several weeks ago in mid Canterbury.
