A 16-year-old Ngaruawahia boy was remanded in custody after appearing in the Hamilton Youth Court on Wednesday in connection with Saturday's aggravated robbery of the Ngaruawahia Shell service station.

Detective Constable Chris Cummings of the Ngaruawahia CIB said the 16-year-old had handed himself in to Police following pressure by the investigation team to locate him.

"At this point Police would like to acknowledge the assistance given to the inquiry team by the Ngaruawahia community in resolving this matter."

The boy's 17-year-old male co-offender was due to appear in the Hamilton District Court this afternoon also charged with aggravated robbery.
