North Shore Police Kept Busy Attending Incidents

North Shore Police have been kept busy attending a serious assault in Paremoremo and a bank robbery in Birkenhead in the past hours.

Police went to an address at Buckley's Track near Ngarahana Road in Paremoremo at about 8.00am this morning after reports that a man had been seriously assaulted.

Soon after their arrival they located a male in mudflats near Lucas Creek.The man was seriously injured and he was airlifted to Auckland Hospital by Westpac Rescue Helicopter. The man has serious head lacerations.

Another injured male and a female were also found near the address.The second man was transported by ambulance to Middlemore Hospital where he has been receiving treatment for a broken hand. The female was also taken to Hospital as a precautionary measure then discharged.

Both these two persons are now assisting police with their enquiries into this incident. Police remain at the scene to continue their forensic examinations.

At about noon detectives from the North Shore CIB went to the scene of a bank robbery at BNZ Bank in Birkenhead. A male has entered the bank and presented a threatening note to a teller.

The staff member handed the undisguised offender a quantity of cash and the robber ran from the bank onto Birkenhead Avenue. Police have been searching the nearby streets and making enquiries in the CBD but so far there's been no sign of the offender.

Police have issued a description of the robber.

Medium Build

180 cm tall

Clothing - wearing black beanie with sunglasses on top

Black suit jacket, black trousers, black top under the jacket..
