Appeal for information in Hastings attempted robbery

Hastings Police are seeking assistance from the community following an incident in the suburb of St Leonards.

At 5.30pm on Wednesday 9 June a resident of Francis Hicks Avenue was leaving his address in a motor vehicle when he was approached by a man.

The man opened the driver’s car door and attempted to drag the victim from his vehicle.

The driver fought back and drove off towards Maraekakaho Road. He was shaken and sustained minor injuries.

Police believe several witnesses were in this area at the time of the incident and Police are asking them in come forward, in particular a man jogging on Francis Hicks Avenue and also the occupants of a silver people mover that came to assistance of the victim.
