Armed offender Robs the ASB Bank in Te Awamutu.

At about 4.15pm on Wednesday the 20th of January 2016, the ASB Bank on George Street, Te Awamutu was targeted by a lone male offender armed with a firearm.

Detective Sergeant Crowe of the Western Waikato CIB said "The offender has entered the premise and presented a firearm at a staff member demanding cash".

"An unknown amount of cash was taken before the male ran off down an alleyway toward the back of the Countdown Supermarket".

The offender is described as a stocky male Maori or Pacific Islander wearing a grey coloured hoodie top covering his head and scarf covering his lower face, dark long pants, sand shoes, and carrying a dark coloured back-pack styled school bag.

The firearm is described as a cut down shotgun.

Mr Crowe said "Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area of the ASB Bank or Countdown Supermarket car park between 4 - 4.30pm this afternoon, who saw a male fitting this description".
