Attribute to Area Investigations Manager Detective Senior Sergeant Ciaran Sloan

Marlborough Police today arrested and charged a 44-year-old man for making a false statement to Police and for theft as a person in a special relationship.

He is due to appear in the Blenheim District Court on 11 June.

The arrest is a result of the investigation into the recent alleged aggravated robbery at Benge and Co on Grove Road in Blenheim on May 21st.

Marlborough Police are pleased with the result and the local community can be assured that this was not an aggravated robbery as first reported to Police.

It is however a timely reminder to businesses in our community that they review and assess their banking procedures and overall security measures.

The investigation into the incident continues.
