Police have arrested and charged a 36-year-old man following an alleged shooting incident in Mangere yesterday morning.
The man was located in the Rodney area by Police early this morning and has now been charged with attempted murder.
He will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow (Monday 9 May 2016).
The 35-year-old victim, Hemi Hingaia, remains in Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin McNaughton says he hopes the arrest will be of some comfort to Hemi's family and the wider Mangere community.
As the matter is now before the courts, we will not be making any further comment.
