Arrests in relation to TAB robbery in New Plymouth

Three people have been arrested in relation to an armed robbery at the Fitzroy TAB in New Plymouth this afternoon.

At around midday, a person walked into the TAB store and demanded money from the shop attendant, and presented what appeared to be a firearm. The offender left with an undisclosed sum of money and walked to Beach Street.

The offender had covered themselves entirely so no skin was visible. They are described as wearing an orange fluoro safety vest and blue waterproof trousers.

Police have conducted search warrants at three properties and recovered a firearm, a small amount of cash, and other items of interest.

A 45-year-old female has been arrested in relation to today's TAB robbery.

A 28-year-old female and a 36-year-old male have been arrested in relation to today's robbery, and also in relation to last Friday's robbery of a Barriball St store, and in relation to an attempted robbery of a New Plymouth licenced premises.

Investigations into exactly what happened are continuing, and anyone who has any information or witnessed today's events is asked to contact New Plymouth Police on (06) 759 5500.
