Canterbury Police would like to thank the fans who attended today’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 match for their part in creating another great family-fun atmosphere at Hagley Oval.

Canterbury Police’s Operational Commander for the ICC Cricket World Cup, Inspector Bryan Buck, said “the positive behaviour of the majority of the crowd again impressed Police.  14,600 local and overseas cricket fans all enjoyed the safe, family atmosphere and we are pleased to confirm that no one was arrested at Hagley Oval today.”

Canterbury Police evicted several people from the venue.

“The crowd didn’t quite meet our challenge for zero alcohol related incidents today, but only 9  were evicted and trespassed by Police due to intoxication which is much lower proportionally than last week.  We have one more game at Hagley Oval on Monday (23 February 2015) and we again throw out the challenge to the fans to aim for zero by drinking responsibly, eating food and drinking water throughout the day” explained Inspector Buck

Canterbury Police will continue to actively Police the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 games to ensure it is a safe and secure environment that is enjoyable for all.

Canterbury – let’s keep making the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 one to remember for all the right reasons.

Media please note – there will be no interviews regarding this release over the weekend.
