About 5.30pm on Boxing day a 12 year old boy was being towed on a biscuit behind a boat on the Blue lake near St Bathans in central Otago.
An incident occured involving two boats and as a result the 12 year old boy has died of injuries
The matter has been referred to the coroner.
No further information will be released this evening.
Next of Kin are being advised and media will be updated in the morning
