Conifer Grove Shooting - update

1 min read

An investigation is underway into an incident where a 49 year old man received a gunshot wound to the thigh in the early hours of this morning.

At around 2am this morning, emergency services were called to an address in Rountree Place, Conifer Grove where a gunshot was heard.  One man was taken to hospital in a serious condition.  His condition has since improved and he is currently stable and awaiting surgery.  He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police are continuing with enquiries today and interviews with the victim and witnesses will take place to establish what happened at the address.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Pizzini of Counties Manukau Police says the investigation is still in its early stage of enquiry.

"It is too soon to determine the motive for the shooting and Police will be investigating all angles," he says.  "However we are interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen a blue twin cab ute with a canopy in the Conifer Grove area any time before or after 2am."

It is understood that two men entered the property and shot the victim before fleeing in this vehicle.

Anyone who has information about this vehicle should call Police on 09 261 1300 or 111.  Information can be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

No more information about the incident will be available until Police have made further enquiries.
