Cordons in place while Police complete scene examination in Addington

Canterbury Police are conducting a scene examination in Parade Court in Addington following reports of a firearm being discharged at approximately 10.15pm last night (16 February 2015).

Canterbury Police District Commander, Superintendent Gary Knowles, says “Cordons were established to secure the scene last night.  They remain in place this morning while officers complete the scene examination.  Officers are armed as a precaution and there are a number of patrols in the area. ”

“We would like to reassure the public  that Police are taking the appropriate steps to keep them safe.  The investigative team are speaking to a number of witnesses in relation to the incident and following a positive line of inquiry.” explained Superintendent Knowles.

Canterbury Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area yesterday and may have overheard or seen anything suspicious between 10-11pm last night (16 February 2015).
