Driver arrested for allegedly driving through stop controlled intersections

1 min read

Shortly before 10.15am this morning Canterbury Police attempted to stop a Grey Subaru Legacy as it drove along Northbrook Road in Rangiora.

Sergeant Rene Pabst said “The same vehicle had failed to stop for Police yesterday after it was seen allegedly travelling through red lights in Christchurch City.  This morning Police stopped the car after a short pursuit during which the car allegedly failed to stop at stop-sign controlled intersections near Rangiora.”

A 21 year old man from Christchurch is due to appear on 22 April 2015 in Christchurch District Court on numerous charges including dangerous driving, failing to stop for Police and driving without a licence.

One of the two female passengers was identified as a 15 year old girl who had been reported missing from Christchurch yesterday (8 April 2015).  She has been returned to her family.  The other female passenger was not charged or detained by Police.

Canterbury Police would like to thank the public for their patience.  Anyone who witnessed the incident and couldn’t stay at the scene is asked to contact Police on 03 313 6167.
