Police service update

At 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of their household.

During this time Police will continue to provide essential policing services.

Dunedin CityFleet investigation complete

Southern District Police have completed their investigation into the fraud involving the Dunedin City Council vehicle fleet. As a result of this, Police have found there is insufficient evidence to prosecute any party in this matter.

Part of the Police investigation included staff looking into all aspects of the Deloitte Report including the fraudulent disposal of Council vehicles and the use of Council Credit Cards.

Police note that Brent Bachop, who is believed to be the sole person responsible, died suddenly on 21 May 2014.
