Police can now confirm one person has died in a crash north of Broadlands township in Reporoa, Rotorua District.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on Broadlands Road, just north of East Road, around 4.05pm.
Another person has been taken to Rotorua Hospital with serious injuries.
The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene.
