Emergency services attended a fatal crash on an unsealed section of School Road approximately 2km south of Fairlie township today (10 January 2015). The crash occurred at approximately 6.50am and it appears that only one vehicle was involved.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 44 year old man, was confirmed as deceased at the scene.
The death has been referred to the Coroner. No further details of the deceased man will be released until next of kin are fully informed.
Police investigations into the crash are continuing.
School Road was closed until 2pm while Canterbury Police Serious Crash Unit attended the scene.
