Fatal crash in Templeton

Emergency services were alerted to a serious two vehicle crash at approximately 11.22am this morning (18 February 2015) at the junction of Jones Rd and Dawsons Rd in Templeton.  One person has been confirmed as deceased at the scene.

The death has been referred to the Coroner.  No details of the deceased will be released until next of kin have been informed.

Initial reports are that a rented Toyota Estima with seven people on board was travelling along Dawsons Road and has collided with a 4x4 travelling along Jones Road. 

The driver and five passengers in the Estima have been taken to Christchurch Hospital to have their injuries assessed.  The driver and sole occupant of the 4x4 has also been taken to Christchurch Hospital for assessment.

Canterbury Police and Serious Crash Unit are at the scene and investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
