Police are continuing their serious crash investigation into the cause of a fatal crash on the Luggate-Cromwell Road yesterday, Friday 25 March 2016.
Police and emergency services responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle accident yesterday on State Highway 6, 10km outside of Luggate in Central Otago.
As a result of the crash, a 62 year old woman has died at the scene after a mini bus has left the road and collided with a drainage bank. The woman was Kusum Rohit Kenia from Mumbai, India.
There were six other occupants in the vehicle and all were transported to hospital by helicopter and ambulance.
Two of the occupants have now been discharged from hospital with four remaining at Dunedin Hospital in serious but stable conditions.
As a serious crsah investigation is still ongoing, police are not in a position to comment on the likely cause of the crash.
