Hit and run driver urged to contact police

Auckland City police are investigating a hit and run which occurred at 3.30am this morning on Great North Road, Grey Lynn.

A 24 year-old male pedestrian was struck by what witnesses describe as a silver sedan travelling west on Great North Road prior to Bullock Track.

The vehicle failed to stop and has continued driving west on Great North Road.

The victim was hospitalised with multiple injuries but is able to converse with Police.

The scene has been examined by the Serious Crash Unit and Police are speaking with witnesses and making further enquiries to locate the driver and vehicle.

A wing mirror located at the scene, believed to be from the vehicle involved, is that of a silver Honda Accord.

Police are appealing for the driver of this vehicle to make contact and for anybody who witnessed this crash or has any information about the vehicle or driver to contact Auckland City Police on 09 302 6516. Information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
