1 min read

Counties Manukau Police are investigating a suspected hit and run incident in Papatoetoe.

Just before 3:00am on 11 September, Police were called to a 20 year old woman found on Stonex Rd, Papatoetoe, after she appeared to have been hit by a car.  She had previously been attending a private party at a nearby house.

The woman has been identified but Police will not release her name until an update on the status of her injuries is available.  She has sustained a number of serious injuries including a broken pelvis and femur as well as head injuries.  She is undergoing surgery and is expected to live.

At this stage there are no witnesses to the incident and Police are appealing to anyone who may have information.

"We are treating this incident as a hit and run," says Detective Senior Sergeant Alan Symonds.  "The driver has fled the scene before checking on this woman's wellbeing or calling for help.

"She has sustained serious injuries so we appeal for anyone who may know anything about it to come forward.  If anyone heard or saw any unusual or suspicious behaviour, or anyone saw a car driving erratically in the Papatoetoe area between 1am and 3am last night, please come forward to Police with information.

"We believe the car involved in the incident will have damage to the exterior, such as dents to the bumper or bonnet, and possibly blood on it."

Anyone who has information can call Counties Manukau Police on 09 261 1300 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
