Police have been called to an address in Mangawhai Heads.
A boy, at this stage believed to be 10 years old, has been flown by the Northland Rescue Chopper to Starship Hospital in Auckland. He is in a critical status 1 condition.
The initial information available at this time is that the child has hurt himself accidentally in a swing.
Police are now with the child’s family and are working to identify what happened.
No further details are available at the moment and a further update is expected to be provided later today.
