Queenstown Police are appealing for information after a man entered a currency exchange store and demanded money.

The incident took place about 6.45pm on Thursday 23 August at the Travelex store on the corner of Camp and Shotover Streets, Queenstown.

The offender entered, approached a staff member and asked for money. He then put his arm through the security window and attempted to steal currency.

When his attempts were unsuccessful, he left and was last seen heading towards the alleyway besides Fat Badgers pizza bar.

The man is described as about 180-185cm tall, and of medium build. He was reportedly wearing a black hoody, black balaclava, black cap, dark trousers and black shoes with a white stripe and fluorescent laces, as well as gloves [pictured].

It is thought the man was hanging around outside Travelex for a time before entering the store.

Queenstown Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has information about those involved.

Anyone with information can email Constable Nicola Clark at nicola.clark@police.govt.nz or phone Queenstown Police on 03 441 1600.
