1 min read

At approximately 4pm today (Wednesday, 5 November) emergency services were called to an address in Pongakawa Bush Road, Pongakawa near Te Puke.

Police were first on scene and found a 12-year-old boy with a wound to the chest. Police assisted family to give CPR and when ambulance personnel arrived they took over the medical care.

The boy has been airlifted to Tauranga Hospital and police are awaiting a condition update..

At this stage the incident doesn’t appear to be suspicious, but an investigation is underway and family members are co-operative and assisting police.

With the exception of a condition update, once known, there will be no further police comment tonight.
