Inquiries continue into Hutt Valley assault

Hutt Valley Police are making good progress with their investigation of a serious assault in Naenae which left a woman with significant cuts and bruises.

Detective Sergeant James Patea, Hutt Valley CIB, says the 63-year-old victim was assaulted by an unknown man at the front door of her Naenae home, about 10pm on Monday, 28 December.

“The victim didn’t know her attacker and the motive is as yet unclear,” Detective Sergeant Patea said.  “She was treated for her injuries at Hutt Hospital, discharged the following morning and is now resting with family.”

A scene examination has been completed.  Inquiries are continuing to find who was responsible.  Police are following strong leads.

The offender is described as a male Maori, aged 35 – 40 years, of solid to fat build with a beard.  If people know of anyone fitting this description or who have information on who was responsible, please call Detective Sergeant James Patea at Hutt Valley Police on 04 560 2600 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
