Investigations into Ashburton burglary continuing

Canterbury Police were alerted to a burglary at a domestic property in Ashburton at around 2.30pm this afternoon (23 March 2015).  A cordon will remain around the property while Police conduct a scene examination.  The cordon which was established in the surrounding area has now been removed.

Canterbury Police investigations are ongoing and there are number of witnesses to interview.

The resident of the property has been taken to Ashburton Hospital with moderate injuries which were inflicted during this incident.

Initial reports are unclear as to the number of offenders involved or their descriptions.

Canterbury Police will also be undertaking a search of the surrounding area and speaking to residents in the coming hours.
