Items seized from residential properties in Christchurch

1 min read

Canterbury Police executed two search warrants at residential addresses in the New Brighton and St Martins suburbs of Christchurch at around 10.45am this morning (24 December 2015).

Acting Detective Sergeant Damon Wells says due to the possibility of firearms being located at the addresses AOS assisted with the warrants and secured the properties to minimise any potential risk to the public and Police.  “A number of items were seized from both properties during the search.”

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation Police are unable to specify what items were seized at this time.

Today’s warrants are part of an ongoing commitment by Canterbury Police to remove illegal drugs and firearms from our community.

If anyone has any information on people who are keeping firearms without a valid firearms licence Police encourage them to call Christchurch Central Police Station on 03 363 7400.

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
