Keep valuables out of sight in vehicles

1 min read

Please attribute to Southland Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Mike Bowman.

If it can be seen, it can be stolen.

That’s the basic prevention message from Police in Southland.

We’re reminding vehicle owners to keep valuables out of sight.

It follows two reports of theft from cars parked in the Seaward Bush Domain on Mason Road, Invercargill in the last few days.

Vehicles in the car park have been targeted and the property taken was left in plain view.

While we investigate those events, we remind people to be vigilant when parking vehicles and in general not to leave property in view but to conceal it in the boot.

This advice applies to vehicles parked in similar car parks right across Southland, such as car parks at the start of walking tracks and at events, such as sport.

If you see any suspicious activity – please report it to Police.
