Legal Highs Confiscated in Search Warrant; Charges Laid

1 min read

Counties Manukau Police have executed a search warrant on an unlicensed premise that was selling synthetic cannabis and have seized approximately 100 bags of synthetic cannabis products.

“We are working hard to keep Counties Manukau safe and minimise the harmful impacts these products have had on our community and particularly on vulnerable young people,” says Counties Manukau Police District Prevention Manager Inspector Richard Middleton.  “This is for the health and safety of our community and unlicensed retailers will not be tolerated.”

Police were alerted to the behaviours of this unlicensed retailer by a member of the public who provided information to organisation Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.  A warrant was executed on the dairy on Monday.

“The public can be assured that we are aware, monitoring and acting on the concerns of the community.  We would like to thank that member of our community for providing the information about the illegal sales of synthetic cannabis and we are interested to hear from anyone else who knows of similar illegal behaviour,” says Inspector Middleton.

People with information can contact Counties Manukau Police directly on 09 261 1300.

Information of the behaviour of licensed retailers can be provided to the Psychoactive Substances information line on 0800 789 652.

Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A man will appear in the Manukau District Court on Friday 9 May 2014 charged with selling psychoactive products from an unauthorised place and selling approved product without a licence.
