Man charged following Phillipstown incident, Christchurch

A 33-year-old man appeared in the Christchurch District Court this morning facing multiple charges in relation to a number of items of concern discovered by Police in Christchurch.

The man has been charged with three counts of possession of explosives, possession of ammunition and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

He was arrested yesterday at a service station in Aranui.

We are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.

There are no known links between the 33-year-old man and the Christchurch attacks on March 15.

As the matter is now before the court Police cannot comment further.
