Rodney Police have arrested and charged a 43 year-old man in relation to a record haul of stolen property that was recovered a few weeks ago in Dairy Flat.
The arrested man, who is from Dairy Flat, has been charged with 32 counts of receiving stolen property.
The total value of the stolen property the man is alleged to have received is $178 319.
The man has been remanded in custody and will reappear in the North Shore District Court on Wednesday 1 July.
"The task of identifying who all the stolen property belongs to has been huge, but at the same time very rewarding. We've had calls from as far away as Akaroa, near Christchurch, and the phones have been running hot at the Whangaparaoa Station" says Sgt Greg Foster, Operation Tank.
"We're managed to reunite probably about 80% of the property with it's rightful owners, but this has really highlighted the need for people to take note of things such as serial numbers, or to mark property in a way that you can remember, so that when we get a find like this, we can get the goods back to their owners and at the same time, prove that they are in fact stolen" says Sgt Foster.
The investigation is ongoing and as more stolen property is identified, the 43 year-old man is expected to face further charges, and more arrests are likely.
