"The victim was extremely shaken by the incident and required medical treatment for their injuries.

"The offender was not located at the time."

An investigation was launched, and with assistance from members of the public, the suspect was identified and arrested yesterday.

“Police have no tolerance for violence taking place on public transport, and we will continue to prosecute those offenders,” Detective Senior Sergeant Williams says.

A 37-year-old man has been charged with injuring with intent to injure and impedes breathing.

He will appear in North Shore District Court today and his bail has been opposed.
