Media are invited to attend the launch of a new community driver mentoring programme in Blenheim on Tuesday, 7 May.

The programme is designed to improve safety on our roads. Where appropriate, Marlborough Police will be able to refer people who are not licensed appropriately to the mentoring programme, where they will be offered support to get licensed and competent.

The programme has been pulled together by Police with support from a number of other agencies and local organisations, including:

  • Marlborough District Council which provided services and helped secure funding
  • Supporting Families Marlborough which is providing administrative support for the programme at no cost to Police
  • AA which has offered support through its Ignition programme
  • Wadsco Holden which offered a driver training vehicle at cost
  • AMI Insurance which insured the car at no charge
