Motorists urged to take care in icy conditions

1 min read

With a clear night ahead and plummeting temperatures, Southern Police are urging motorists to be prepared for continuing icy conditions on the roads in the morning.

It comes after two people suffered moderate injuries when their car rolled on Luggate-Cromwell Road, Queensbury, shortly before 9.25pm on Sunday 5 June 2016. Two others in the vehicle were uninjured.

Police say driving to the conditions is key, including keeping speeds down, allowing plenty of stopping distance and being mindful of black ice. Motorists are also advised to check that their vehicles and tyres are roadworthy before heading off, and ensure all windows are completely clear of ice.
