At 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of their household.

During this time Police will continue to provide essential policing services.

Name release: Fatal crash, Westport

Police can now release the name of the person who died in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Westport yesterday.

He was Glen James Rusbatch, 42, of Westport.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash at the intersection of State Highway 67 and Domett Road about 5.50pm or seen anything of concern just prior to that, is urged to get in touch with Greymouth Police on (03) 768 1600.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
