At 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of their household.

During this time Police will continue to provide essential policing services.

Name release - Horse riding incident, Omarama

Police can now release the name of the girl who died after falling off a horse in a paddock near Airport Road, Omarama on Friday afternoon.

She was 13-year-old Eliza-Jayne Coetzee of Omarama.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this tragic time.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.
