At 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of their household.

During this time Police will continue to provide essential policing services.

Name release - light aircraft crash Kaimanawa Ranges

Police can now confirm the names of the two men who died as a result of a light aircraft crash in the Kaimanawa Ranges.

They were 27-year-old Peter Scott Callagher and 29-year-old Zakir Ali Parkar.

Police would like to extend their sympathies to the victims families at this tragic time.
