Police can now release the name of the Thai woman who died in Middlemore Hospital overnight.

She was Jindarat Prutsiriporn, aged 50 of Auckland.

Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

Jindarat had some involvement in the organised crime scene within Auckland.

Her immediate family including her children are requesting privacy during this difficult time and do not wish to make any comment at this stage.

Detective Inspector Dave Lynch says a team of 17 are continuing to assess information being received from the public.

"We are still appealing for sightings of a late model silver vehicle in Papatoetoe and surrounding areas on the evening of 1 March 2016.
