At 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of their household.

During this time Police will continue to provide essential policing services.

Name release - Quad bike crash Ranfurly

Police can now confirm the names of the people who died in the quad bike crash on Dome Hill Station in the Kakanui Ranges, Ranfurly, Saturday 23 March.

They were 50-year-old Gary David Murphy and 55-year-old Trevor Floyd Smith both of the United Kingdom.

Police extends its sympathies to their families and friends at this time.

Police and WorkSafe are investigating the crash. 

The deaths have been referred to the Coroner.
