At 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of their household.

During this time Police will continue to provide essential policing services.

Name release - State Highway 35, Opotiki

Police can now name the man who died in a single vehicle crash on State Highway 35, Opotiki on Tuesday 16 April.

He was 54-year-old Arnold Stephen Maraki of Kapiti Coast, Wellington.

Police extend their sympathies to Mr Maraki's friends and family at this difficult time.

The investigation continues into the cause of the crash.
