At 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020, New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4.

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of their household.

During this time Police will continue to provide essential policing services.

Name release - Tekapo-Twizel Road fatal

Police can now release the name of the man who died following a crash on the Tekapo-Twizel Rd, Pukaki on 17 March.

He was 69-year-old Yau Nung Yu of Queensland, Australia.

Police extends its sympathies to his family and friends at this time.

A 50-year-old man has plead guilty to a number of driving related offences and is next due to appear in the Dunedin District Court for sentencing on 20 June.
