Palmerston North Police want to thank the public for calls made to the crime show Police Ten-7 last night relating to an appeal to help identify a man who sexually assaulted a woman in the early hours of the morning in the CBD on Sunday 11 May, 2014.

Detective Johnny Oram who is leading the investigation says: "We received nearly 50 calls from the public and the information from these calls has been invaluable. I also want to thank local media for their assistance with our appeal to identify this offender."

The calls have generated a number of lines of inquiry which officers are currently pursuing.

"Police are continuing to receive calls and this shows that the public are keen to help us with our inquiries. We still want to hear from anyone that may have any information and I encourage them to contact Police," says Detective Oram.

The man is described as Caucasian, early 20s, skinny build, and has shoulder length dark hair that was dirty and unkempt.
