Nelson Police investigating sexual assault

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating two men in relation to an alleged sexual assault near the Centre of New Zealand Walkway in Nelson last night. 
 
At approximately 8.00pm on Monday 21 November a woman was walking up the Centre of New Zealand Walkway when she was confronted by two men, one of whom assaulted her. After a brief struggle, the woman managed to push the man away and escape. 
 
When walking home later that night the woman was confronted again by the same man on Milton Street, near the Halifax Street East corner. After attempting to assault her again, he ran off and Police have been unable to locate him. 
 
The women was uninjured in this assault but is understandably shaken by the incident. 
 
The offender is described as Middle-Eastern, around 20 years old and approximately 160-170cm. He has dark hair and a beard, and he was wearing a white T-shirt and dark trousers.
 
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man fitting this description near the walkway or around the Milton Street area between 8pm – 9.30pm last night, or anyone who thinks they may have information which would help us identify the alleged offender and his companion.
