1 min read

Nelson Police are investigating an incident that took place in the early hours of Tuesday 10th April 2018.

A 17-year-old fisherman was found at his accommodation by work colleagues at about 3am with a large laceration to his head.

The young man had earlier been removed from licensed premises and was seen wandering around Bridge Street before being found with the injury. He has no recollection of events after leaving the bar.

Police located a large pool of blood in the Liquorland carpark off New Street. A review of CCTV camera footage has identified several people and vehicles moving between the area of Bridge Street and New Street at the time of interest.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen what took place or noticed the young man wandering around after 2am.

He is of slim build and had a distinctive haircut with the top of his head shaved and longer hair to the collar at the back. He was wearing a rugby style top, coloured yellow and black  with CCC on the front and dark jeans.

Anyone with any information can contact Constable Jesse Gaskell at Nelson Police phone 03 546 3840.
