Police are currently in attendance at a Whanganui address after an offender was shot and injured during an incident. The incident happened just before 9.00am this morning.
While at the address the offender has left the address and ran through a number of other properties. Two officers who were present have followed on foot.
The offender was located again a short time later and, after presenting the firearm at police, he has been shot twice.
Police officers have applied immediate first aid he is currently receiving medical treatment at hospital.
Police have cordoned off the immediate scene and police have begun an investigation into the incident.
